Introducing “Rusty Purple”

I’m excited to share a new false color infrared style I’ve found. I call it Rusty Purple.

This look brings a moody, autumnal weirdness to IR photography. Vegetation shifts into rich deep red-purples, dusty rose tones, and rusty reds with hints of mustard yellow-green. The colors morph subtly depending on lighting and vegetation type, giving each image a dreamlike, otherworldly quality.

Rusty Purple is a straight-out-of-camera (SOOC) style. All the images are JPEGs — no channel mixer or post-processing required.

It’s made possible by a special custom filter combination I’ve been fine-tuning, and I’m adding it to my range of styles available in my converted cameras.

I’ve posted a few sample shots below. If you’re into something that shifts the mood into stranger, more poetic territory, this one’s definitely worth a look.
