What’s been on my mind for years has finally come to life: Black Trees – straight out of the camera. As I hinted in a previous post, achieving this look requires a special astro filter. Combined with two others – one glass, one foil – this creates a unique colour palette. And yes: all images are SOOC (straight out of camera), with zero post-processing.
I aimed for a balanced look, especially in the sky – opting for a cool blue. The filter combo darkens the image significantly, so plenty of light is needed. These shots were taken at f/4, 1/60s, ISO 200 – just at the edge of what I consider usable, but still solid.
Light-wise, the result is driven mainly by visible light with a minimal amount of UV. Infrared is completely blocked – which is essential for achieving the black tones in the foliage.
A personal vision has finally materialised! 🙂
