What is Rich False Color IR? This is what I call a filter combination that produces very rich false color IR images. Without channel mixer, directly from the camera.
It is made possible by a combination of the very IR-permeable hot mirror GRB1, which I presented here, and a DB850 filter, which allows visible light plus 850nm to pass through.
The latter is installed in front of the sensor. GRB1 is difficult to get in front of the sensor (mainly due to its thickness). That’s why it is mounted as a screw-on filter in front of the lens.
Together with various Lee filters, looks are produced that are characterized by very varied colors in the vegetation.
The strength lies in blue and violet tones, but with Peacock Blue a beautiful, rich red tone is also possible. Yellow tones are more difficult.
Below is a collection of photos from my tests with the names of the used Lee filters.
